Arab Strap Confirm Reunion for 20th Anniversary Shows

It turns out there really is no ending. Following a bit of online teasing, Scottish twosome Arab Strap have announced they're getting back together to play a few gigs this year.

As previously reported, the band's website had been updated earlier this month to deliver the message "Hello Again," this highlighting Arab Strap's radio show appearance with on BBC Radio 6's with Steve Lamacq. The interview aired today (June 15), and on it, Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton confirmed that a trio of UK concert performances take place this October.

Shows in London, Manchester and Glasgow have been booked to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary. These mark the first time Moffat and Middleton have performed as Arab Strap since 2011 following their 2006 breakup.

"I think the day we went to the pub and split up, we made a joke about Arab Strap getting back together in 10 years' time to celebrate," Middleton said in the on-air interview [via The Quietus]. "So that's basically what this is: a chance to enjoy the music we made once more."

Moffat added: "We wanted to celebrate it while we're still relatively young and don't look too embarrassing on the stage."

To further celebrate the occasion, tomorrow (June 16) will see the band unveiling a remix of their debut single, "The First Big Weekend." Now titled "The First Big Weekend 2016," the touched-up track was prepped by fellow Scotsman, Miaoux Miaoux.

At the moment, it's unclear if Arab Strap will be performing any reunion dates outside of the UK.

Tour dates:

10/13 London, UK - Brixton Electric
10/14 Manchester, UK - O2 Ritz
10/15 Glasgow, UK - Barrowland Ballroom
