As Hell Retreats

Revival

BY Ronak GhorbaniPublished May 25, 2010

Right from opening track "Inferior," Nashville, TN's All Hell Retreats capture listeners in a tight grip, delivering amped song after amped song on their debut album, Revival. Full of speedy guitar riffs and equally explosive percussion, the album moves rapidly, with vocalist Jackson Greene upping the Christian band's ferocity with a gruesome, deep growl. Although they've only been together for four years, As Hell Retreats sound like a band that have been around for decades; they're tight and have layers of technical patterns. On "Messengers," Pantera-like riffs dominate, hinting at the band's obvious influences. The album is excellently executed and is bound to get you hooked. Top tracks include "Contradictions" and "Poor God."
