Atom and His Package Celebrated with Up End Atom

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 15, 2009

In case you missed it while it was around, Atom and His Package was the gloriously goofy one-man band of punk nerd Adam Goren. He made incredible, hilarious punk anthems with his guitar and a whole bunch of preprogrammed synth beats. Whether you know his work or want an introduction, Hartless Hind Records will give you a hand with Up End Atom, a new tribute album in honour of the musician.

The compilation will feature contributions from like-minded outsiders MC Lars, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer and Math the Band, among many others. One of the reasons Atom and His Package folded in 2003 was due to Goren's diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes, so $4 from each release will go towards the American Diabetes Organization. Nice, eh?

Up End Atom is set to come out on July 14, with this tracklisting:

1. Steinbeck - "Possessions (Not The One By Danzig)"
2. Mcchris - "Punk Rock Academy"
3. Math The Band - "Upside Down From Here"
4. Zambonis And Atom - "Goalie"
5. Yidcore - "Avenger"
6. Mc Lars Feat. Worm Quartet - "(Lord It's Hard To Be Happy, When You Aren't Using) The Metric System"
7. Worm Quartet Feat. Curt Allen - "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Lib 20"
