In the lead-up to this weekend's HARD Toronto, Austra have let the Scion Sessions into their Toronto studio for a taste of their yet-to-be-announced sophomore album. Katie Stelmanis and co. delivered the new album's "Painful Like," filmed by our friends at AUX.
As the video's description explains, the follow-up to Feel It Break is "in the very infant stages," and the group are still in the pre-recording writing part of the process. The track itself, of course, features Stelmanis flexing those operatic pipes of hers, with the Tasseomancy gals providing some hypnotic harmonies. And if the rest of the new album is anything like this track, expect a change, as the gothy tendencies are played way down here for a lighter, brighter sound of a more dance-oriented nature.
Check out the new song for yourself in the video below.
HARD Toronto -- which features Austra, along with Justice and M83 -- takes place at Toronto's Fort York: Garrison Commons on Saturday (August 4).
