Ava DuVernay Helming Prince Documentary for Netflix

Hollywood producer/director Ava DuVernay is working on a new documentary series about Prince for Netflix.

As Deadline reports, the A Wrinkle in Time and Selma filmmaker and her team were given access to the late singer's Paisley Park home and studio over the last few months.

Prince reportedly reached out to DuVernay about working together before he passed away in April of 2016, and as such, the Netflix project has been given the stamp of approval by the singer's estate.

"Prince was a genius and a joy and a jolt to the senses," DuVernay told Deadline. "He was like no other. He shattered every preconceived notion, smashed every boundary, shared everything in his heart through his music. The only way I know how to make this film is with love. And with great care. I'm honoured to do so and grateful for the opportunity entrusted to me by the estate."

As of yet, there is no release date or title for the documentary.
