We're still waiting for the release of Babe Rainbow's sophomore Warp Records effort Endless Path, but in the meantime, the eclectic electronic soundsmith has just dealt out another impressive offering to keep us sated for the time being.
Though the track's mood is generally much more tranquil than its anarchic song title, "Punks" is deceptively crushing. The angelic melodies of a glass-shattering mezzo soprano and some ethereal synths float angelically above the tune, but that still doesn't mask the frantically clicked castanets, deep bass throbs and outright oppressive cannon blasts that make up the rest of the tune. Up the punks, indeed.
