Baby Dee

Even in her live show, it's apparent that Baby Dee has been greatly influenced by working with Antony and the Johnsons member and superstar arranger Max Moston, who has paired down her music and gave it a mystical quality. Her music may be more haunting because of Moston, but she has changed nothing of her theatricality. Although she sat right of centre stage, with her cellist placed in the middle, she was magnetic. Perched at the helm of a harp, Baby Dee wailed confidently among the string sounds. She's eccentric, she's freaky, she's unconventional, and this show was well chosen for the Pop Montreal audience.
