Baptists

'Beacon of Faith' (album stream)

Baptists' anticipated new album Beacon of Faith is officially here. As such, you can let the entire record tear apart your speakers now.

Boasting 13 tracks, the album by the Vancouver band was recorded by Converge's Kurt Ballou in Salem, MA, in July of last year, with Brad Boatright at Portland's Audiosiege handling mastering. The album was previously said to be "a sonic manifestation of desolate rage, bolstered by a palpable sense of urgency."

Beacon of Faith is said to lyrically draw from Baptists' "direct experience of a broken society and general discontentment with everyday life," hitting out at substance abuse, mental health, the Canadian court system and — as guitarist Danny Marshall put it — how the more fortunate "tend to dismiss people who have been dealt a less-fortunate hand."

You can hear how that all sounds on record for yourself below.
