Last year, Daft Punk caused a big splash with their Tron soundtrack. In 2011, another dance-floor-filling electro duo will be hitting the big screen, as Basement Jaxx have written the music for the upcoming sci-fi flick Attack the Block.
The film was directed by Joe Cornish, a British writer/director who is one half of the comedy team Adam and Joe. According to IMDD, the film is about "a teen gang in South London defending their block from an alien invasion." It features English funnyman Nick Frost and is due to arrive in UK theatres on April 8.
The news that Basement Jaxx is involved comes from director Edgar Wright, who worked with Cornish on Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, plus the upcoming film The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. He tweeted, "Heard some of Basement Jaxx's score for Joe Cornish's Attack The Block yesterday. Still humming it today. #GoodStuff"
There's currently no word as to when the soundtrack will come out. When it arrives, it will mark Basement Jaxx's first release since 2009's Scars.
