Coming off the release of last year's darkened Obsidian LP, Baths (a.k.a. L.A. electronic artist Will Wiesenfeld) is now ready to deliver a bite-sized follow-up under the gloomy title Ocean Death. The release date is coming up quick, with Anticon set to have it at retailers May 6.
A press release explains that the five-song effort is a companion piece to Obsidian, with recording sessions having taken place between Spain and a friend's home in Los Angeles. As you can see in the tracklist below, the EP contains five tracks and is apparently about 20 minutes long.
Wiesenfeld crafted title track a few years back, before even starting his work on 2010's Cerulean but has held onto the cut until now. The minimalist techno song is described as recalling Pantha du Prince or Four Tet, highlights Baths' falsetto vocals, and is said to be "suffused with maximalist emotion." You can check out a stream of the song down below.
The press release also notes that a third full-length is currently being "theorized," with its musical direction being "vastly different" from what we've heard from Baths so far.
As previously reported, Baths is currently on tour with Young Fathers, with a series of Canadian dates coming up in May. You'll find the show specifics below as well.
