Last month, prog-y rock experimenters Battles announced the endlessly anticipated details of their second album. The record is called Gloss Drop and isn't due until the summer, but BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens debuted the track "Ice Cream" on his show yesterday (March 9).
We all expected Battles to enter a new direction after the departure of Tyondai Braxton and "Ice Cream" confirms those expectations. Resembling the sounds of a Yes cassette being played in a blender, "Ice Cream" has all of the disjointed rhythms of yesterday's Battles with a newfound organ obsession.
Check out "Ice Cream" below, courtesy of We All Want Someone to Shout For. Gloss Drop will be available from Warp on June 7.
