Toronto collective Bedroomer has been celebrating DIY culture in the city for the last few years, serving as a boutique record label and throwing parties that showcase the experimental music it fosters. The arts-minded group has now offered up a compilation titled Bedroomer Volume I, featuring a look back at its recent work, and you can stream it right here on Exclaim.ca.
The 15-track mixtape boasts contributions and collaborations from local pop experimenters like Swim Good, RLMDL, LUM, Eytan Tobin and First Rate People.
As the first official compilation from the collective, the album takes a look back at what has been accomplished so far and establishes a mission statement going forward.
As for what you can expect to hear, a press release describes the release as follows: "Cloudy, open sonic spaces make room for variations on house and hip-hop beats. Melancholy often mixes with moments of ecstatic dance floor grooves. The mixtape features both songcraft and production ear-candy, influenced by a movement of bedroom producers online."
Bedroomer Volume I is out today (December 2). You can give a spin in the player below and download it here.
