Beef Terminal Returns with 'Canadian Patent'

Three years after MD Matheson got back to his Beef Terminal project with Humidex, the Toronto sounds caper has put together a follow-up titled Canadian Patent. After existing up on Bandcamp the last couple of months, Matheson is set to give the album a proper release this summer.

Matheson will officially deliver the album July 1 through Moodgadget. According to Matheson, some "bad experiences" following the release of Humidex had him contemplating turning his back on Beef Terminal and the process of making music for public consumption, but he soon had a change of heart.

"I contemplated just packing it in and making sounds on my own with no real intention to release it out in the world," he said in a statement. "I felt like I was just throwing more music on a massive pile of music that everyone else was making and just getting ignored, so why bother? But the point of this project has never been recognition or money, it has been about true fans of the music, who seem to somehow find it and get in touch, telling me how much it has meant to them."

Canadian Patent began taking shape in April 2013 in Toronto, with Matheson wrapping up the set in Florida earlier this year. Ahead of the official release, you can stream all 10 tracks of Canadian Patent's post-rock guitar textures and experimental ambient beats. You can also download the LP over on Bandcamp.
