Scottish indie pop favourites Belle and Sebastian have been forced to cancel a round of European tour dates behind their danceable 2015 LP Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance due to frontman Stuart Murdoch's ailing health.
Though the details were not delivered in full, the band took to their website today (November 5) to explain that they will be backing out of a handful of appearances across mainland Europe that were to start next week. According to the act, "This is due to lead singer Stuart Murdoch's current health."
They added: "It is a huge disappointment for us not to make the concerts, and the decision was not taken easily. Stuart wants nothing else but to be able to play and sing for you, but has to get better first. We hope you understand."
Murdoch's present condition is unclear, but it had previously been reported that the singer-songwriter has experienced chronic fatigue over the years.
Belle and Sebastian's most recent show was a benefit concert for Save the Children's Child Refugee Crisis Appeal, which took place in Glasgow on Monday (November 2). You can see the list of affected dates, which were to be with Other Lives, over here.
Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance was issued earlier this year via Matador.
