Toronto-based stoner rockers Biblical played one of Heavy Montreal's smaller stages, but brought some of the biggest riffs of the first day of the festival. Sheltered in the Scene de la Fôret, there was a surprisingly intimate feel to their set, which blistered and writhed under a canopy of trees.

The density of their debut release, the torrential Monsoon Season, translated extremely well into this festival appearance, the layers and textures of their sound taking on a quality that was at once verdant and deeply smoky. They have a sound that's easy to get lost in, and their set was constructed much like a cocoon, deliciously smothering layers for the audience to get lost in.
