Get ready to move, because New Orleans bounce icon Big Freedia will be liberating the booty-popping sounds of her recent debut LP Just Be Free this fall on her upcoming North American tour.
The Queen of Bounce and her backup dancers, the Divas, are set to "Explode" at their upcoming club and festival appearances, which take place between August and October. The troupe take things up to Canada a couple of times, with shows scheduled in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in October.
The artist, who also stars in the TV show Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, revealed that the tour is a tribute to her mother, Vera Louise Mason Ross-Johnson, who passed away earlier this spring. Freedia said in a statement that the tour is a "celebration of my mom's life," and the timing of the trip so soon after her mother's passing "makes for a lot of emotion that I will bring to the stage."
