I've already declared my love for the Big Pink when they popped up with last year's brilliantly thumpy "Too Young To Love." But now that they've signed to 4AD, one of my all-time favourite labels, and released brooding paean "Velvet" (this week, actually), I feel the need to reiterate my excitement.
The original, slightly NSFW video you can check below. It's the Gang Gang Dance remix, however, that made it impossible to pass on this. Working some of that magic left over from last year's Saint Dymphna, GGD begin by swaddling the Big Pink in a heavenly bed of spiralling synths, crystal guitars and tribal drum patterns. And then midway through they arm it for club play, intensifying the beats, stripping the vocals and messing with the delay pedals to no end.
