Björk has a new wig, and you know what that means: in a new interview with The Guardian, she has revealed plans for a new record, her 10th studio album Fossora, which is arriving in the fall.

Named for the "feminine version of the Latin word for digger" and written in lockdown, the album was partially inspired by the death of her mother, Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir — two songs of it specifically, "Sorrowful Soil" and "Ancestress." A full tracklist has yet to be revealed.

Fossora will be the Icelandic icon's "mushroom album": "It's like digging a hole in the ground. This time around, I'm living with moles and really grounding myself," she said. It finds her incorporating a sextet of bass clarinets and gabber beats, and collaborating with serpentwithfeet and Indonesian dance duo Gabber Modus Operandi, as well as her son, Sindri, and her daughter, Doa.

In top Björk form, the artist also shared her vision for the record in the following statement: "Let's see what it's like when you walk into this fantasy and, you know, have a lunch and farrrrt, and do normal things, like meet your friends."

Fossora will be the artist's first full-length release since 2017's Utopia, which is described as "subtle and complex, never idealistic" in Exclaim!'s 9/10 review.
