Björk Premieres New Track on iPad App

While the new Solar System application for the iPad aims to teach people about outer space, an additional out-of-this-world experience comes via the premiere of a new Björk song within the program. Oddly enough, you will only get to hear the new tune once.

A press release for Solar System, an app that features "fully manipulable, space data-based 3D realizations of the planets and moons," explains that the three-minute instrumental "plays once on the very first launch." The song was reportedly adapted from Björk's upcoming Biophilia project and is currently exclusive to Solar System.

Unfortunately, it's unclear as to what exactly the Biophilia project is. There is also no further information about what the track featured in Solar System is called or how exactly it will play into Biophilia, but it could quite possibly be from an album the singer is reportedly wrapping up, or from a scientific musical project that Pitchfork reports she has been working on with director Michel Gondry.

If you don't have an iPad, you can check out a demonstration of the app, including Björk 's new cut, below.
