Black Country, New Road have spent the last few weeks teasing their new single "Besties," and with its arrival today, they've also revealed that their third studio album is on its way.
Forever Howlong is due April 4 via Ninja Tune, and follows their restructuring. Now, songwriting duties are split between Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery (Jockstrap) and May Kershaw. "It created a real through line for the album, having three girls singing," Ellery said in a press release "It's definitely very different to Ants From Up There, because of the female perspective — and the music we've made also compliments that."
Forever Howlong is the band's first record since frontman Issac Brock left BC,NR just four days before the release of Ants From Up There. Since then, the band have kept busy, opting to play only new material on their 2023 headlining tour, and releasing a live album of said songs.
"Besties" is certainly a departure for the band, as is their first song to feature Ellery on lead vocals. It's a nod to their aforementioned live material, and departs them almost fully from their post-punk roots. Listen to it, and check out the track list for Forever Howlong below.
