On top of being raucous garage rawkers, Atlanta's Black Lips are apparently big baseball fans. Their crunchy pop nugget "Noc-A-Homa," off last year's Arabia Mountain, is a tribute to their home team the Braves' old mascot, Chief Noc-A-Homa. The dancing Native American caricature was retired back in 1986, and the group's new video imagines where the sports figure is today.
Unfortunately, the clip starts with a homeless Noc-A-Homa waking up outside of a tattered teepee in a public park before pushing a shopping cart around the streets of Atlanta. The Black Lips, meanwhile, don some old-school uni's and act like right pricks, hucking a full watermelon onto the chief as he walks on by.
After finding his old costume in a trash bin, Noc-A-Homa takes revenge on the city that forgot him by robbing a convenience store, stealing a car, and knocking a homer (get it?) out at a local field. The whole thing teeters between the boundaries of good and bad taste, but a statement from the band assures that the video has Noc-A-Homa "handing out sweet justice" after years of being humiliated in and outside of the stadium.
