Black Sabbath Reunite

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 11, 2011

While just this past summer Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi quashed rumours that the gloom metal founders were getting back together, the band at long last officially announced their return today (November 11).

At precisely 11:11 a.m. PST, the act's website relaunched with a promotional vid heralding the comeback, explaining that Sabbath's original lineup (Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne, drummer Bill Ward and bassist Geezer Butler) will deliver a new album in 2012 produced by Rick Rubin. It should arrive in the fall via Vertigo/Universal Republic and wil be this lineup's first studio album in 33 years, following 1978's Never Say Die.

On top of the new disc, the band have announced they'll head out on a world tour next year. So far only one gig has been confirmed, a headlining slot in the UK at the Download Music Festival on June 10. More details are sure to come.
