Legendary Black Album producer Bob Rock has shared a new song with the late Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie — a joint effort previewing the pair's long-fabled collaborative album, which is due to arrive sometime next year via Arts & Crafts.
The posthumous release, titled "Lustre Parfait," arrives today with Downie's lyrics and Rock's instrumentation. The story goes that the pair's collaborations began after working together on the Hip's World Container and We Are the Same, when Downie asked Rock if he could sing on some of his music.
"First and foremost Gord was my friend," Rock said in a release, "and having the opportunity to work with him on these songs was one of the biggest highlights of my professional life. I am grateful that I got to witness his genius in such close proximity."
Further details on the forthcoming collection remain scant, but for now, you can take in the posthumous Downie track below.
