As previously reported, veteran soul singer Bobby Womack will deliver his Damon Albarn and Richard Russell-assisted The Bravest Man in the Universe LP June 12 through XL. It's Womack's first album of original material since 1994's Resurrection, and if you wanted to see how the project came together, a new trailer featuring candid footage from the recording sessions has been released.
The clip finds Womack laughing and improvising lyrics in the studio over beats produced by Albarn and Russell, playing a stunning blues melody on an acoustic guitar, and dishing on how the pair of producers convinced him to write the album.
"Damon was determined to give his hero a break," Womack explains in the clip. "And they gave me the confidence that I used to have. That's the greatest feeling. If they think I'm that, then I am that."
