Picture yourself driving in an old convertible down a highway in the American Southwest with some frosty tall-boys in the glove box and you've got the music in the tape deck right here. Probably best described as a traditionalist or musical historian, Vancouver's Bocephus King and his band the Rigalattos add their interpretation to a mix of distinctly American music born somewhere between New Orleans and Memphis, which is probably why they were signed to Austin's New West. Often described as sounding like Tom Waits, I'd say he is more of a blend of Dr. John and Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor, not that King could really give a flying !*@#. With feelings aplenty, you can cry in you beer ("The Worst Friend") or want to live life with the joyfully haunted, "Eight And A Half." Very real music that will make you want your drink in a dirty glass.
