The Books Sign to Temporary Residence, Plan New Album for July

BY Josiah HughesPublished Apr 5, 2010

In November, sound collage experimenters the Books announced a North American tour where they planned to toy with some new material in a live setting. Those dates came and went, they played some songs live and that was that. Now, five months later, the band have finally announced some details for an upcoming album.

The record doesn't have a name yet, but will be released this summer. Better yet, the band have found a new label home with Temporary Residence, the same imprint responsible for quality releases from Explosions in the Sky, Eluvium and Envy.

In a post on the label's website, Temporary Residence said, "The Books are unquestionably one of the most innovative and forward-thinking groups in the world, and now we get to work with them. It's a dream come true and having them in our home already feels like a match made in Heaven. It's been five long years since their last album, and the wait is over this summer!"

The album is set to drop in July, so look for more details shortly. In the meantime, enjoy a live video of a new song below.
