In light of the earthquakes, tsunami and nuclear power concerns that have rocked Japan over the last week, the big news isn't that Tokyo-based rock experimentalists Boris are delaying the release of their two upcoming discs, but that the band are alive and well.
A press release from the group acknowledges that they survived the natural disasters that have wreaked havoc in the country. It also finds the trio giving their condolences to those who weren't as lucky while sending best wishes to everyone affected by the events.
The full statement reads:
Boris expresses our condolences to everyone who passed away because of current unexpected earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan, and also our deepest sympathies for all of the people who have a hard time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
All Boris members, our families and staff are safe now. Thank you very much for kind words and thoughtful messages.
Hope,
Boris
The press release also points to the American Red Cross taking donations for disaster relief here. You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
In other Boris news, due to reasons beyond their control, the previously announced one-two punch of albums Attention Please and Heavy Rocks, originally schedule to be released by Sargent House on April 26, has been delayed. The discs will now come out May 24.
