Boys Noize / Various

Oi Oi Oi remixed

BY Marinko JarebPublished May 25, 2008

Boys Noize have been touted by many, particularly the Ed Banger crew, as the artist of 2007. The debut full-length album garnered much attention and this remix project will breathe some new life into these already popular songs. The remixes are more of the same: full-on peak-time digital electro-punk classics. My favourite mix is the Feadz remake of "Lava Lava,” which gushes skyward with ferocious yet delicate intensity and then falls to pieces and reforms in spectacular formations as sounds are sliced, diced and rearranged to create an intricate and powerful piece of music. The Siriusmo vs. Boys Noize mix is reminiscent of some of the Justice burners, with grinding, resonant sounds that give the impression of a moulded plastic version of rock music, as do the Proxy and Para One mixes. Apparat and Housemeister add a distinctly German aura to the project, fitting somewhere between electro, IDM and tweak-y, track-y Chicago house.
