Bracket

When All Else Fails

BY Shawn MerrillPublished Oct 1, 2000

Although Bracket are not a band that knocked me instantly on my ass with their previous recordings, When All Else Fails is a different story. Right from the get-go, Bracket won me over with their brand of abrasive pop. Their melodies are immediately catchy and unforgettable, as are their harmonies, rhythms and beats. Imagine rolling Sweet Baby Jesus, Samiam and Green Day into one entity and that's Bracket. The pace of the album is set and so is the quality of the album with the opening tack, "Everyone Is Telling Me I'll Never Win, If I Fall In Love With A Girl From Marin," which popped and bopped me right across the room. Not only have they produced a phenomenal pop album, but they've also produced a very humorous one. Bracket may be the Miller Lite of punk, but they still taste great.
