We recently learned that Bradford Cox would be acting in the upcoming film The Dallas Buyers Club. It turns out that this isn't the Deerhunter/Atlas Sound's leader only foray into the world of film, since he is also scoring the documentary Teenage.
The film is directed by Matt Wolf (who did the Arthur Russell documentary Wild Combination) and examines American youth culture. It's based on the book Teenage by Jon Savage, who also wrote the film.
The official synopsis reads, "Teenage is an unconventional historical film about the invention of teenagers. Bringing to life fascinating youth from the early 20th century — from party-crazed Flappers and hipster Swing Kids to brainwashed Nazi Youth and frenzied Sub-Debs — the film reveals the pre-history of modern teenagers and the struggle between adults and adolescents to define youth."
Pitchfork notes that the film is set to premiere next year.
Watch a three-minute trailer for the flick below to hear some of Cox's music, including part of Atlas Sound's "Quick Canal."
