Braid Return with Split EP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 4, 2012

Nineties emo vets Braid jumped back into the game in 2011 with their four-song Closer to Closed EP, which we noted traded some of the band's familiar guitar quirks for "clear vocals and mid-tempo rock." The Champaign, IL outfit will now follow up that mini-effort with a split EP.

Braid will figure on one side of a split 7-inch with Pennsylvania indie kids Balance and Composure. The offering arrives via No Sleep Records on February 26.

Both bands are offering up two new cuts exclusive to the release. No song samples have arrived yet, but you can peep the tracklisting up below and the artwork up above.

While listed as a limited-edition release, there are more than a few different variations of the mini-platter being offered up; 1,000 retail copies were pressed on white vinyl, Braid and Polyvinyl Records will sell 700 on maroon wax, while Balance and Composure and No Sleep have 700 copies on gold vinyl to hock. Additionally, No Sleep has 500 copies on teal and will dole out 200 copies on clear vinyl through their singles series.

Braid:

1. Lux
2. Many Enemies

Balance and Composure:

3. You Can't Fix Me
4. Say
