To coincide with the release of her tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears's first-and-final acting gig and 2002 cult-favourite Crossroads is heading back to theatres next month, Trafalgar Releasing, Sony Music Entertainment and RCA Records have announced [via THR].

The film will screen on October 23 and 25 — the days before and following the October 24 release of The Woman in Me — in 875 theatres across 24 countries [via Variety]. So far, there is no word on whether any of those theatres are in Canada, but we'll find out when tickets go on sale September 28.

Crossroads was directed by Tamra Davis and written by Shonda Rhimes, and stars Zoë Saldaña, Taryn Manning, Anson Mount, Justin LongDan Aykroyd and Kim Cattrall.

"I recently rewatched Crossroads and was so enthralled with the time capsule of nostalgia that this incredible ensemble cast brings to the screen," Davis said in a statement.

"Britney is absolutely breathtaking to watch, and Shonda is showing us her early expertise in writing complicated female characters," the director continued. "We had the best time in the world making this picture and the connection the actresses bring to their performances shows in every frame."

RCA will also release Crossroads: Special Edition, which includes three new remixes: "Overprotected (Richi Lopez Remix)," "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman (Snakehips Remix)" and "I Love Rock 'N Roll (Frank Walker Remix)."

"The music will undoubtedly have audiences dancing and singing along and I know everyone will have as much fun watching these scenes as we had making them," said Davis. "I'm so grateful that Crossroads will be available so people can see Britney shine again."
