Brody Dalle

"Meet the Foetus" / "Oh the Joy"

Former Distillers/Spinerette leader Brody Dalle is getting ready for the release of her first solo set and is now offering a one-two punch ahead of its TBA street date with a stream of "Meet the Foetus" / "Oh the Joy."

"Meet the Foetus" flirts with spacious, synth-driven melodies and alt-pop hooks, recalling '90s-era Garbage, which makes sense considering Shirley Manson is handling backups on the track. Dalle's vocals run effortlessly soft but stuttered on the infectious chorus of "Sh-sh-shot through the heart, baby / I'm gonna love you forever."

The back end of "Oh the Joy" ramps up the raucousness, pumping the mechanized drum machine beat into overdrive as Dalle brings back the punkiness of the Distillers with a never-ending run of spirited "whoas."

You can sample the multifaceted offering down below.

Though details are still to be delivered in full, Dalle's solo LP will arrive later this spring through Caroline. As previously reported, the album was recorded with Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys) and also features contributions from Michael Shuman (Queens of the Stone Age), Jessy Greene, Emily Kokal (Warpaint), Tyler Parkford, Darren Weiss and drummer Hayden Scott (AWOLNATION).
