Bruce Springsteen detailed his lengthy and illustrious career in his Born to Run biography last year, but the public will be able to gain even further insight into the Boss's life thanks to a new archive project.
Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, will establish the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music to preserve the musician's legacy, as well as the work of other artists like Woody Guthrie and Robert Johnson.
The collection will include items from Springsteen's own collection of writings, photographs, periodicals and artifacts.
"The establishment of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music celebrates and reinforces the Jersey Shore's legacy in the history of American music, while providing a truly transformative experience for our students," university president Paul R. Brown said in a statement [via the New York Times].
The new additions will join an extensive memorabilia collection of more than 35,000 items that has been housed at Monmouth since 2011.
The executive director of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, Robert Santelli, is expected to take a leading role in the new centre at Monmouth, though details about funding or a projected opening date for the archives have yet to be confirmed.
