After previously having postponed a pair of tour dates in Philadelphia after being "taken ill," Bruce Springsteen has announced that he will be doing the same with every concert with the E Street Band on his itinerary this month.
The Boss is apparently coping with symptoms of peptic ulcer disease, a gastrointestinal condition where open sores form in the stomach or small intestine, which can often develop due to a bacterial infection eating away at the digestive system's protective lining. As a result, he is taking a month off the road to treat his symptoms on the advice of medical professionals.
"Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023, beginning with tomorrow's show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY," reads the statement posted to Springsteen's Instagram last night (September 6). "Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows."
The artist himself added, "Over here on E Street, we're heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We'll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We've been having a blast at our US shows and we're looking forward to more great times. We'll be back soon."
As of press time, Springsteen is only postponing the dates he had scheduled for the month of September, which means his Canadian performances in November should thus far be unaffected.
