If you logged onto Amazon's mobile site over the weekend, you may have had discovered an unexpected treat: through an apparent error, the online retail giant briefly began selling Bruce Springsteen's new album, High Hopes, on Saturday (December 28).
High Hopes isn't due out until January 14 through Columbia Records, but Billboard notes that shoppers had access to purchase MP3 versions of the 12 tracks. These were only available individually, rather than as an entire album package.
High Hopes was taken down soon after, suggesting that this was a mistake rather than an early promotion. But it looks as if the damage may have been done, since High Hopes has apparently made its way onto torrent sites since the leak.
The album consists of new studio versions of some beloved concert staples and notable B-sides. Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello appears on two-thirds of the 12 songs. The record was produced by Brendan O'Brien and Ron Aniello and finds the Boss back by his E Street Band.
