Finding it hard to believe we're in heaven? Bryan Adams has announced his return with So Happy It Hurts — the forthcoming 15th studio album from the Kingston, ON-hailing guitar hero.

So Happy It Hurts will be released on March 22, 2022 via BMG, marking the follow-up to the prolific Canadian rocker's 2019 LP Shine a Light. He's also announced a slew of UK tour dates in support of the new record, scheduled for next summer.

The freedom of the open road proved the catalyst for the singer-songwriter's new material, which he penned in lockdown.

"The pandemic and lockdown really brought home the truth that spontaneity can be taken away," Adams said in a statement. "Suddenly all touring stopped; no one could jump in the car and go."

Of the title track, he added: "The title song 'So Happy It Hurts' is about freedom, autonomy, spontaneity and the thrill of the open road. The album of the same name touches on many of the ephemeral things in life that are really the secret to happiness — most importantly, human connection."

Opening with the line "Driving down Trans-Canada 1," this is clearly one for the CanCon canon. The artist sets his sights on embodying the elation of driving through the Rocky Mountains with his signature style of feel-good rock.

A black-and-white music video clip doubles down on the escapism, seeing Adams sitting in an unmoving convertible on a soundstage — letting the music do the transportive heavy lifting.

So Happy It Hurts features 12 new songs co-written by the artist and will be available on all digital formats, as well as a variety of physical ones, including standard and deluxe CDs and vinyl.
