Canadian hip-hop icon Buck 65 has been forced to pull out of a couple of shows this weekend, citing severe cold and flu symptoms as the cause for the cancellation. This morning (May 11), the rapper regretfully informed his fans of the decision to axe shows in Winnipeg tonight and in Saskatoon tomorrow, explaining that the illness hit him like a ton of bricks recently, and last night he took a turn for the worse.
"My head exploded in slow motion last night. I'm fighting off one of the worst illnesses of my life right now. I don't even know what it is. Feels like something half-way between a cold and flu with a monumental amount of mucus in every cavity of my body," he said in a statement to the CBC.
He went on to outline that he's currently battling a sinus infection, and is concerned that it could potentially sideline him with a ruptured eardrum if he were to hop on a plane to head out on his scheduled tour.
"I did some research and found that the risk of flying with a severe sinus infection is a ruptured ear drum, which is not a risk I can take," he said, adding, "Ruptured eardrums hurt and take a long time to heal and as a 'musician' I kinda need my eardrums. A major concern of the musician."
Despite the last-minute cancellation, Buck 65 is extremely apologetic, and plans to reschedule the dates soon.
"I feel awful in my systems and awful in my heart that I'm going to miss seeing my friends in Winnipeg and Saskatoon this weekend, but I promise I'll make it up real soon. We are working on rescheduling the shows as we speak. I'll double down on the jams and dance moves for you."
