Back from nowhere comes this Boston trio that at one time in the mid-’90s were poised to become the next big thing. After being mentored by Dinosaur Jr. guru J Mascis, the Toms were snatched up by the majors and proceeded to release a few really good records before vanishing. Their set on this night, which included material from their new Three Easy Pieces disc, showed there’s still lots of life in this old horse. In fact, they haven’t been this vital or on their game since their second record came out about 15 years ago. Welcome back.
