Between his work with much-loved hip-hop duo UGK and his own solo work, Bun B has been dropping knowledge on listeners for years. It looks as if B is going to take a bit of a break from the stages and studios, however, as he prepares to flex his skills in the classroom instead. The rapper is now officially an assistant professor at Houston institution Rice University.
A report up on Hip Hop Wired points to Bun B's Twitter account, where the MC uploaded an image of his Rice University identification card, along with a short statement confirming his new position.
"Co-teaching Hip Hop and Religious Studies at Rice University this spring! Undergrads enroll!" he wrote.
We're not quite sure what his lesson plan look likes, but a recent interview with XXL had him hinting that he'll have a submissions box on his desk to review your demo tapes.
In-class debates could very well turn into full-blown rap battles to decide who's the trillest student of all. For that matter, Bun B can use the school session to explain to most of us what trillactually means. Just make sure you're not tardy. Dude hates that old late-for-class shtick.
"I will be looking to see who's in class everyday; you may get priority for perfect attendance. Pay attention to me, I'ma pay attention to you."
