Busta Rhymes Arrested for Assault By Protein Shake

Apparently unable to take his own advice and "Calm Down," rapper Busta Rhymes was arrested in New York City last night (August 5) for throwing a chocolate protein drink at a gym employee.

As reported by Rolling Stone, the evening prior (August 4) Rhymes had been in an argument with a front desk staffer about access for his cameraman. The gym employee refused to let the videographer into the facility to film Rhymes' workout.

Yesterday, Rhymes returned to the gym and another argument ensued. Rhymes reportedly splashed water at the employee, who splashed back. Rhymes proceeded to throw his chocolate-flavoured body-building beverage at the employee. The drink's cardboard container reportedly cut the employee's head, but they did not seek medical attention.

The rapper was arrested and charged with second degree assault. His lawyer Scott Leemon spoke to the New York Daily News, saying: "It's ridiculous; it was literally a bottle of Muscle Milk. This is clearly an attempt by someone to take advantage of Busta. He did nothing wrong. This is a bunch of bull."

Rhymes was released from custody early this morning and is slated to appear in court on November 6. He posted a photo to his Instagram in the early hours of the morning with the caption: "Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me. I'm good and we're back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bullshit into GREATNESS. I'm super good."

He was pictured sans Muscle Milk, opting instead for a bottle of water.
