Organizers of Baie-Saint-Paul's annual Le Festif! music festival have announced that registration for the 13th edition of the Cabaret Festif! talent competition is officially open.
Starting today (November 6) until November 26, hopeful contestants can sign up to join past ranks of emerging artists who made their mark at Cabaret Festif!, including Philippe Brach, Émile Bilodeau, Ariane Roy, Comment Debord, Clay and Friends and Sara Dufour.
After the complete cohort of contestants is announced on January 9, qualifying performances will take place on January 27, February 17 and March 9 at the Maison Otis Cabaret. The Grand Finale will happen on March 30.
Prizes awarded to participating artists include training, a creative retreat at Domaine Forget, a subscription to audio tools via Phoque Off Pro, recording sessions at Quebec City's Studio Pantoum and paid performance opportunities valued at $35,000 in total.
Sponsoring partners SiriusXM and Cogeco will also provide cash prizes of $10,000 and $3,000 to the Jury Prize and Public Prize winners, respectively.
This year, Dufour will serve as the event's spokesperson, selecting her favourite contestant from the Grand Finale and offering them an opening slot at one of her 2024 concerts.
Live performance opportunities can also be earned at several local festivals, including Festif! de Baie-Saint-Paul, Festival de la Chanson de Tadoussac, Festival en Chanson de Petite-Vallée and Festival International de la Chanson de Granby.
