Back in 2017, Cadence Weapon celebrated the Edmonton Oilers' star player with a single simply titled "Connor McDavid." Now, with the Oilers heading to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006, the Edmonton-hailing rapper is preparing to release a sequel to "Connor McDavid."
On Monday (June 3), the rapper born Rollie Pemberton posted a clip of himself rapping a new version of the song over the same beat as the original. This updated version, titled "Connor McDavid (2024 Stanley Cup Version)," finds him rapping, "18 years at the Final / Remix, time for another title."
Today, he posted an Instagram Story of himself in the studio, with the caption promising that "Connor McDavid (2024 Stanley Cup Version)" will arrive on streaming platforms this Friday (June 7).
This year's Stanley Cup Final, featuring the Edmonton Oilers against the Florida Panthers, begins on Saturday (June 8).
