Ministry of Sound has previously recruited artists like Andrew Weatherall, Gilles Peterson, Francois K, Jazzie B and others to put together compilations for its Masterpiece series. Now, Detroit techno icon Carl Craig has been confirmed to oversee the latest instalment in the series.
The compilation will be spread over three CDs. The first disc is a mix of music Craig finds inspiring, the second features music that appears in his sets, and the third is an original composition created for this project using modular synths.
In a statement, Craig said of his choice of music, "Even though all of my professional career I've been travelling around the world and my scope of music is very global, how I listen to music is still very rooted to how I listen to radio, how it is now, and how it was in Detroit when I was growing up."
The tracklist has not yet been released, but Carl Craig's Masterpiece will be out June 3.
