Well, here's news that should please more than a few rock-leaning metalheads. After a three-and-a-half-year hiatus, long-silent hardcore headbangers turned prog-rockers Cave In are ending their hiatus. Via a MySpace message, the Boston-based band recently made the announcement, tipping fans off to a new EP, as well as a reunion show of sorts this July.
As for the EP, it's being dubbed Planets of Old, and will mark Cave In's first proper release since 2005's Perfect Pitch Black. No tracklist has yet surfaced for the release, but we do know Adam Taylor, Alex Hartman and Johnny Northrup will produced it, and it's coming out as a limited edition twelve-inch via Hydra Head.
And while it doesn't look as if Hydra Head is taking orders yet for the new EP, the band say it will be out around the time of their show on July 19 at Great Scott's in Allston, MA, where they'll play their first gig in ages alongside Disappearer and Phantom Glue.
