Canadian piano wizard Chilly Gonzales made an impression at this weekend's Pan Am Games Opening Ceremonies in Toronto — showing up in his bathrobe and slippers to musically accompany flag-bearing RCMP officers. Now, the proficient pianist has unveiled plans to take the stage in a pair of Canadian shows early next year.
In support of his most recent release Chambers, Gonzales will be joined by the Kaiser Quartett for a concert at Massey Hall in Toronto on February 5. Alejandra Ribera will serve as the opening act, while the headlining show will be filmed in conjunction with the Live at Massey Hall video series.
The following evening (February 6), Gonzales and co. will be treating Montreal fans to a set at Salle Wilfred Pelletier at Place des Arts.
Tickets for both events go on sale to the general public on July 17 at 10 a.m. EDT.
Below, relive the performer's improvised rendition of the national anthem at the Pan Am Games Opening Ceremonies.
Tour dates:
02/05 Toronto, ON - Massey Hall
02/06 Montreal, QC - Salle Wilfred Pelletier at Place des Arts
