As previously reported, a SXSW appearance by long-running pop punks Screeching Weasel on Friday (March 18) devolved into chaos when frontman Ben Weasel attacked two women during the band's set. The frontman has since apologized for his actions, but forgiveness has not come easily from the punk rock community.
Many of the bands scheduled to play Weasel Fest -- Screeching Weasel's 25th anniversary celebration in Chicago from May 27 to 29 -- have backed out. Punknews reports that the Soviettes, Chinese Telephones, Teenage Bottlerocket and Chixdiggit have all bailed on the fest.
Other bands scheduled to play Weasel Fest include the Riverdales, Kepi Ghoulie, the Manges and the Steve Adamyk Band, among others, though it is unknown if they are still planning to play.
