Earlier this year, Portland outfit Chromatics served up their after-hours pop disco masterstroke Kill For Love in various formats. The set dropped digitally, on CD, and even appeared as a drumless version for aspiring remix artists to tinker with. Analogue audiophiles, meanwhile, might have felt a bit left out as the set never appeared on vinyl. That is, until now. Though it's a few seasons after the fact, Kill For Love will pop up on wax later this month.
A solid street date has yet to appear, but Boomkat is taking pre-orders for the double-LP set, which will naturally be delivered courtesy of ringleader Johnny Jewel's Italians Do It Better label. A tracklisting has yet been delivered for the vinyl version of Kill For Love, but until we learn otherwise, presumably the song order is the same.
A recent Quietus interview with Jewel hinted that Chromatics are already working on a follow-up, but the musician said to not expect a new LP in the near future.
"There's a Billy Joel quote where he says he never throws away a piece of music away because it will always find its way into another song and I think of songs like that," Jewel said after being asked if any of the Kill For Love outtakes will rear their heads anytime soon. "Some of the new Chromatics album has already been written. It's really, really good. It'll take at least a year and a half to release."
While a full-length seems a ways off, the band will also be appearing on the After Dark 2 compilation, along with Glass Candy, Desire and more. The three-LP set arrives October 15 through Italians Do It Better.
