The Cinematic Orchestra

After grabbing the ears of many heads with their debut release Motion, the lush formation of J. Swinscoe's Cinematic Orchestra has returned to slip us into another hypnotic state of beautiful string arrangements. Everyday is a mere seven tunes, but with most cuts clocking in at average length of nine minutes, there is more than enough time to let yourself slip into musical bliss. The formula is the same as you would anticipate from the Orchestra, with simply beautiful notes floating through the tracks with a softness and elegance, accompanied by the odd vocal sample or electronic tinkering. In one of Everyday's finest moments, Roots Manuva drops lyrical bombs three minutes into a mesmerising "All Things To All Men," quickly turning an orchestral piece into a flat out live hip-hop joint that concludes with a harpsichord. With a chorus that will be trickling in your mind for days afterward, Roots' verbal skills are in top form. With only seven chances at creating a flow, the Cinematic Orchestra manages to create a unique spread of audio pleasure from start to end. Yet another chapter in Swinscoe's beautiful novel.
