Cold Specks, a.k.a. Al Spx, has announced plans for her fourth studio album Light for the Midnight, arriving April 9 via Secret City Records in Canada and Mute everywhere else.
In addition to Spx's return to collaborating with Chantal Kreviazuk, the album features string arrangements from Owen Pallett, as well as production from Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck.
The effort continues Spx's upheaval of work amid her ongoing struggle with mental health. She explained, "I definitely wanted to reflect on the last couple of years because it impacted me so much, but I also wanted the audience to walk away with this album. You know, the songs belong to them once I release them."
Today, the album is previewed by "Lingering Ghosts," which was co-written with Ben Christophers (Françoise Hardy, Imogen Heap), and features Adrian Utley, Ali Chant, Seb Rochford and Dan Moore. Hear that below, where you'll also find the album's tracklist.
